Let me first quickly explain what the title tag is and how important it is for you to spend some time really thinking about your title tags before hitting that publish button…

Title tags are what appears between < title > < title > in your blogs template. This title comes up at the top of your browser when viewing a page and comes up in search engine results as the clickable link of each post.

So what do you include in between the title tags of your blogs homepage and each individual post to increase the targeted traffic you receive from the major search engines ?

Here's how I write my title tags which seem to get pretty good rankings once the posts get indexed…

1. Your homepage title tag should include the main keyword and a secondary keyword that your targeting for your blog. For instance this blogs title is "How to Create a Blog That Makes Money" The main keyword phrase that i'm targeting is "create a blog" and the secondary keyword phrase that i'm targeting is "makes money"

2. Each individual post should have the title tag as being the actual title of that particular post which should of course include the keyword or keyword phrase that your targeting. For instance the title of this post is "How To Increase Traffic Using the Title Tag" The main keyword phrase i'm targeting is "Increase Traffic" and the secondary keyword phrase is "Title Tag"
