How to Put Video On Your Blog

On wednesday i searched high and low for the instructions for including some video on my blog, either from Youtube, Google Video or any of the other sites that host video clips..

I eventually managed to find a set of instructions that actually worked on my wordpress blog. I tried several wordpress plugins that claimed to let you do this but most of them didn't work for some reason…

Anyway, i managed to find an easy to use plugin that works…

I thought i'd share with you exactly how to do it. I will also give instructions of how you can do the same thing if your using blogger for your blog. Firstly here's the instructions for wordpress users. I found the plugin here

Download wordpress video plugin from here video on your blog plugin Then unzip the downloaded zip file and upload the contents to your wp-content/plugins directory and activate it. Afterwards, you can include a video on your posts or pages by writing the following (without quotes):

Youtube: ["youtube" id]

Google Video: ["google" id]

My Video: ["myvideo" id]

You’ll find the necessary id in the address of the video. A typical address looks like this, the id is highlighted in bold:

* youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DHOZW_8OPk
* MyVideo: http://www.myvideo.de/watch/366128
* Google Video: http://video.google.de/videoplay?docid=5024787479139933029

That's all there is to it, brilliant!

Now for blogger instructions:

Simply go to the Google video site and select the video you wish to include on your blogger blog. Once you have selected the video that you want you should see a link that says email post..

Click on this link which should then bring up some choices of where you want to post the video to. Either blogger, myspace, livejournal or typepad. Just above that link is a link called Embed html..

Click on this link and then copy the code in the box. OK, once you've done this log in to your blogger blog account and select the blog you wish to include the video on..

Then all you need to do is enter the html code that you copied from google video into the message box, firstly remembering to select the edit html link..

Then simply publish your post as usual and you should then see the google video that you selected embeded into your blogger blogs post..
