One of the most effective ways of getting more exposure for your blog is to build quality reciprocal links from other blogs that have a similar topic to your own. I've been doing my own research into how to get other blogs to link to mine besides the normal route that many site owners go down which is simply sending out emails saying something like:

Identify a few keywords or preferably keyword phrases that your going to target for your blog post. Now work out what the average internet surfer would type into google to find the information your going to write about. The answer to that question will be your keyword/keyword phrase that you will target for this particular blog post…
